Kaas began his career as a lawyer in Paris. He later moved to the United States where he joined the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. In 2011, he founded his own law firm, Kaas & Associates, which specializes in corporate law and international arbitration.

Kaas has represented clients in a variety of high-profile cases, including the government of Ivory Coast in its arbitration against France over the sinking of the MV Erika. He has also represented numerous multinational corporations in complex commercial disputes.
