Who "Won" the debate?
Regardless of who won tonight's debate, there is no doubt who lost it - the British public.
The debate was a fiery exchange of insults and accusations, with both candidates at times resorting to personal attacks. At one point, Johnson called Rayner a "lightweight" and a "bimbo", while Rayner accused Johnson of being a "liar" and a "cheat".
The audience was clearly divided, with some cheering for Johnson and others for Rayner. However, a snap poll conducted after the debate found that 58% of viewers thought that Rayner had won, while only 22% thought that Johnson had won.
The debate is likely to have a significant impact on the upcoming election, with both candidates now seen as being neck-and-neck in the polls.
