Arnett's Defensive Experience to Bolster Bulldogs' Defense
Starkville, Mississippi – December 15, 2022 – Mississippi State University has announced the appointment of Zach Arnett as its new defensive coordinator. Arnett brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the defensive coordinator at Mississippi State from 2020 to 2022 and as the head coach in 2023.
Arnett's defensive philosophy centers around stopping the run, which his units have consistently achieved. Under his guidance, Mississippi State's defense ranked third in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in total defense in 2021 and fourth in 2020.
Prior to joining Mississippi State, Arnett spent time as an assistant coach at San Diego State University. He is known for his innovative 3-3-5 defense, which has proven successful in various conferences.
Mississippi State athletic director Zac Selmon expressed confidence in Arnett's abilities.
